The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is asking road users to exercise caution while using the roads Wednesday and Thursday as Met Eireann has issued Orange and Yellow Weather Warnings for persistent and heavy rain.
There is an Orange Rainfall Warning for Cork and Kerry from 12pm Wednesday to 12pm Thursday when there will be persistent rain, heavy at times, accompanied by strong onshore winds, high tides, and elevated river levels. Flooding is expected as well as wave overtopping and difficult travelling conditions.
There are Yellow Rainfall Warnings for Waterford from 12pm Wednesday to 12pm Thursday and for Kerry and Cork from now until 12pm Wednesday where there will be persistent rain, heavy at times, accompanied by strong onshore winds and high tides. There is possibility of localised flooding, wave overtopping and difficult travelling conditions.
Road users in areas affected by the Orange Warning for heavy rain are advised to check local traffic and weather conditions before setting out on a journey.
