New Driving Test Centre to open in Drogheda

The Minister of State in the Department of Transport, Hildegarde Naughton TD alongside the Road Safety Authority (RSA) have announced today Tuesday 16 February 2021 that it is to open a new Driving Test Centre in Drogheda from Monday 22 February.

The new driving test centre will be located at Drogheda Town Football Club, Marian Park, Drogheda and will cater for Category B (car/light van) tests.

Announcing the opening of the new test centre Minister Naughton said “The opening of the new test centre in Drogheda is very timely as it comes at a time when the service is experiencing unprecedented demand due to Covid-19. The opening of the new driving test centre in Drogheda will certainly provide additional testing capacity in Drogheda and surrounding areas. This, plus my recent approval for the RSA to hire 40 new driver testers on a temporary basis, to help tackle the backlog of those waiting for a test nationwide, will go some way to easing that demand.”

Mr Sam Waide, CEO, Road Safety Authority said that the RSA’s decision to open a new test centre in Drogheda was in recognition of the demand for driving tests from such a large urban location.  He also added that “The siting of the driving test centre in Drogheda Town Football Club would be a temporary move while the RSA looks for a longer-term solution.”

The new Drogheda driving test centre will have capacity for two driver testers. Including the new driving test centre in Drogheda, the RSA operates 52 driving test centres across the country.  Anyone looking to book a driving test in the new driving test centre in Drogheda can apply through www.MyRoadSafety.ie
